Make this winter memorable, fun, and yes, even warm with some fantastic cold-weather activities! Here are some RV tips for cold weather vacations.
Visit Some Hot Springs
Arizona is full of hot springs, as are many of the western states. Whether you stay close to home or want to do a little exploring, relax in some thermal springs this winter.
Outdoor Recreation
Have you wanted to try snow skiing, ice skating, snowshoeing, snow tubing…and more? Now is your opportunity! Several states (like Colorado!) have resorts which offer travelers their fill in winter sports and recreation.
Go Fish
No, not the card game. Why not try ice fishing? This is a specific form of fishing that is a cold weather sport, and many northwestern states boast plenty of ice fishing opportunities.
Winter Birding & Wildlife Watching
If you’re a wildlife photography enthusiast, don’t miss the opportunities that winter gives you to see certain birds during migration or capture gorgeous photos of wildlife against a wintry backdrop.
Take Up a Cozy Hobby
Nothing beats curling up in front of your new or used RV’s fireplace for a warm and cozy evening! By the time evening rolls around, I prefer to have something other than my phone in my hands, so I like to use my evening hours for reading a book or keeping my hand busy with some crochet work. Don’t know how to crochet or knit? No worries! YouTube videos can get you started easily and quickly – and with a few easy-to-gather supplies, you can spend your evenings learning something new, staying warm, and having a great finished project to show for it. Can’t choose between reading a book or trying your hand at a crafty project? We’ll make it easy: put on an audio book to play while you work at your project.
Enjoy New Recipes
It’s baking season! Experiment with new recipes for cookies, homemade cocoa, and a delicious new stew that you can make in a slow cooker. Pro tip: I make a batch of cookie dough, scoop into balls and flash freeze on a cookie sheet, then bake a few and dump the rest of the dough balls into a gallon size food storage bag, which I then freeze. Then, anytime I’m in the mood for cookies, I simply set the oven to bake, and pull just a few from the frozen stash. It’s a great way to satisfy cravings but also be mindful of portion control!
