As fun as it is to lay outside under the stars, there will come a time when some campers would prefer to have a more sheltered place to come back to at the end of a long day outdoors. Or maybe some would like to take a day to relax indoors and not have any plans. In that case, you might be looking at upgrading to a camper or towable RV.

Towable RVs are the ultimate luxury when roughing it outdoors, as they come with spacious interiors and great amenities. But they’re also big and somewhat intimidating, especially when it comes time to tow them to your destination. But with the right preparation and a little practice, you’ll become a confident RV tower in no time. Read on for RV towing tips!

Your Tow Vehicle

First things first, you’re going to want to make sure your tow vehicle can handle the weight of your RV. Hitching the RV

As we mentioned, hitching your RV is incredibly simple. Start by making sure the RV and the back of your tow vehicle are perfectly lined up. Make sure the hitch is in “receive mode” meaning that the jaws of the hitch are open and ready to receive the kingpin. Back up your truck so the hitch lines up with the receiver. As you get closer, adjust the hitch height with the front jacks as needed. When you hear a “click” sound, that means you’ve successfully engaged the hitch with the RV. Lock the receiver in place with the cotter pin and you’re done.
